Who Is Debbie Bebeau EdD, OTR?


Dr. Bebeau has been a passionate educator for over 19 years. She is currently Program Director of the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Madison College. Prior to her tenure at Madison College, Dr. Bebeau was a Clinical Assistant Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator at University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Occupational Therapy Program where she was inducted into the UW Teaching Academy and received the Ann Wallace Academic Staff Distinguished Achievement Award. Dr. Bebeau holds a B.A. in Psychology from Indiana University, a M.S. in Occupational Therapy from University of Indianapolis, and an EdD from Edgewood College. Before academia, she was an enthusiastic occupational therapist working at a Level I trauma hospital.


Dr. Bebeau has a strong desire to help students connect their learning to real world situations via a myriad of learning methodologies. Her doctoral dissertation explored the effectiveness of using virtual learning methodology in occupational therapy education. Click HERE for details.

Dr. Bebeau’s teaching philosophy centers on several guiding principles:

(1) The educator’s role is to empathetically guide and empower students.

(2) Students need opportunities to participate in experiential problem-based learning activities.

(3) Students, particularly healthcare students, need opportunities to practice practical skills in a safe environment.

(4) Students need access to relevant and innovative technologically-advanced learning methodologies.

How Did ClinEdWeb Get Started?


Debbie, EdD, OTR and Luke, ATP met in 1995 while working in the rehabilitation department of a Level I trauma center in Milwaukee, WI. After marrying, they transitioned to careers as teachers in healthcare yet always dreamed of working together again to empower others. Now, combining their individual skill sets, they are putting their passion and knowledge into this website to assist in the education of future practitioners. They believe in family, innovation, and the power of quality education.
